FAQ

1Where is Longier located? Is it a German company?
Marketing and sales direct and indirect in Europe, North Africa, the Arabic world and America is done by Longier Europe which is for legal reasons related to GreenLine Graphics.
2What are the advantages for partners/distributors?
3Why should I buy a Longier printer?
Oh, we have a lot of answers, but in fact, the only one who can answer this question seriously is yourself. There are a lot of features. There are certain specifications, high print quality or are you looking just to the machine or ink price. Are you looking for a certain ink performance, adhesion and flexibility, are you looking for a complete range of high performing printers and one stop shopping? But even the personal behavior of the Longier team, our reliability and mission statement, our innovation and willingness to serve you. There are so many reasons and arguments why working with Longier - we like to find the most important one for you together with you!
4What’s about service?
Technical service is a very important factor when making the decision towards a special investment. Of course, it’s the dream never needing it, but in case ... Rather than having a huge number of people listed we rely on a global network of specialist for mechanics, electrical engineering, software, color management, etc. In case you need service you will always get the best. It’s not just about repair, it’s even a question of marketing and application support, handling training when you e.g. hire a new operator or in case you need to profile your system when switching inks. We rely on the best people and specialist for you!But even talking about worse case scenario and repair service: we have tested our printers under real bad or even worst conditions possible and know about the reliability. But even design wise Longier printers allow to have maintenance, even extended maintenance but also service by yourself or your people. Just one look inside and you will agree. PLEASE always have in mind that well performed maintenance is not just a part to ensure long time high quality prints but will even protect your investment. However, when you need us, we are with you, no question where and when!
5Are there special specs and features applied to LONGIER UV printers?
When we initially talked about the ideal printer, we have put all our wishes on the table and even what we and our customers missed with existing printers. For sure maximum reliability and stability has been and still is key for us, but there have been even other items we looked at: - LED UV-Technology rather than Mercury - ease of use and service - special functionality for white printing - flexible use of inks - flexibility regarding number and type of print heads (4 / 16) - use more or less same components for all members of the printer family - easy mass printing by “blue button” And much more, so it’s worth to have a closer look at.
6Should I better go for flat bed with roll option or dedicated roll-to-roll printer?
In case you will always just use flexible media on rolls, you should go for our Hunter RU roll to roll UV-LED printer. In case you will always just print rigid boards, you should go for a flat bed printer, e.g. Hunter FP3750, Hunter FP900 or Hunter FP6000. However, consider the maximum size you need. In case you have to print flexible media as well as boards or even you plan for future and will be prepared for all possible jobs AND like to offer the same high quality and color gamut to boards and banners, you should make your decision towards Hunter FR printers. Even here you should have the max. size in mind!Since the size of our FRs is limited and probably you will face larger boards to print at, we offer the long board extension kit containing a special belt and 2 supporting tables. Since transportation is more expensive when ordering later, you should consider purchasing this kit together with the printer.
7What are the applications for ceramic ink jet printers?
8What is the difference between LONGIER printers and other brand printers?
Compared to other suppliers of wide format printers Longier is a young company even we do have a very experience team and some long personal history in large format printing market. While starting a new printer family from zero, we looked very close to the needs and demands of our addressed markets and customers. So there is nothing updated or streamlined or build because R&D people like it. It’s just where customers look for!!The name LONGIER is a synonym for our aim and goal, being a reliable, strong brand worth to look at. Even the names of our printers have a special meaning as there are Hunter, Racer, Performer, Runner followed by new concepts and names later. But this is just our view. PLEASE build your own view. We kindly invite you to look behind, compare the performance and attitude of the machines and solutions and of course meet the people behind. Please keep in mind, even a well done market overview and nice listed features don’t show the real value in daily operation for you. Come and see yourself.Take us by our word!
9Why most of LONGIER printers can bear up to 16 print heads?
Depending on the print heads you like to use on your Longier printer and the model and ink you will run you can run up to 16 print heads allowing you best possible flexibility. So you can install 2 x CMYK oder 2 X CMYKlcLm or you can go with 2 x 8 colors for textile or ceramic inks or spot colors like white or silver or .... Since we run a second row of print heads, there is no speed reduction when running e.g. white compared wit running one set of print heads per color.
10Which print heads are used on Longier printers?
11What are the advantages of LED curing against traditional mercury lamps?
12What’s about the ink costs per m²?
Ink consumption is related to many factors and parameters. However, in case a quality color profile has been done and has been selected for printing the defined image, some RIPs offer you a preflight for calculation of the number of needed dots/drops allowing you to calculate the real ink costs prior to printing. E.g. you can find the button below in the top row of SAi Photoprint (IMA SLIKA) However, all LONGIER printers offer an open ink system as well as flexibility regarding print heads (KM or Ricoh) and number of heads including all options needed to settled the correct parameters for certain inks. By this customers are able to chose for the ink they like most regarding performance and/or price. Nevertheless, ink must be certified for the print heads used. Furthermore, even due to the open ink system, operators can use even the last drop from the ink bottle just fill the rest to the new bottle. (take care about the ink type and lot number as well as sedimentation!)
13May I use spot colors like silver?
Of course16 there are 16 print head positions max. available. Depending on the configuration of the printer, installed sub tanks and ink tubing the print heads can be driven separately. However, field upgrade might be possible but has to been checked and even will be more expensive then getting this from the factory. So you need to ask for this option when ordering your printer. However, for sure White is possible without speed reduction and of course different colors are even related to the ink type and ink manufacturer.
